The results of the fifth Epson photo contest “my favourite photo 2006” have been announced. The awards ceremony for the Russian winners took place on April 16 at the 2006 Photo Forum exhibition.

Epson Russia held their fifth annual photo contest “my favourite photo” from December 15th 2005 – March 1st 2006. The contest was designed for both photo enthusiasts and professionals. Entries were received from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Over 4200 photos were received by post from the four countries and more than 5000 photos were sent via the website www.photo.epson.ru. All the winning photographs and many popular entries are now posted on the site.

Participants could submit their photos in either of eight genres: Portrait, Glamour, Reportage, Kids, City, Animals, Landscape, Macro. Many partner companies also supported the contest this year: Casio, Pentax, iRiver, Wacom, Sony Ericcson, Russian magazine ‘Zoom’, Russian radio station ‘Our Radio’ and the photography school ‘Academy of Photo.’ Representatives from each partner formed the jury that chose the overall winners. Epson and each partner then chose their own finalists and allocated prizes.

Russia’s leading photo magazines, Digital Photo, Foto&Video, ProPhoto, Digital Camera, Chip Foto-Video, Fotodelo, and Best Digital Cameras also picked their favourite photo’s and gave the winners an annual subscription to their magazine. 

In total, 73 winners were chosen from all of the partner companies; 35 photographers were given a ‘highly commended’ title and prize. Two winners from the online entrants were chosen through a public vote.

The awards ceremony for the Russian winners was held as a part of Russia’s biggest professional photo exhibition ‘Photo Forum 2006’ which was held in Moscow on April 16th. All the winning photos were presented at the Epson booth during the work of the exhibition. The Ukrainian awards ceremony will be held at the Kiev Photo Fair that will take place on May 18th – 21st.

In Ukraine, the contest was supported by many popular magazines: Digital Photographer, Digital Photo&Video Camera, T3, Hi-Tech, Around the World, and Tourism World. Each magazine chose their favourite photo and gave the winner a year’s subscription.

It was rather hard to choose the best ones among plenty of interesting, professional, original and simply great photos. We hope that the choice made by the jury, will be appreciated by many of you. Unfortunately, it is impossible to award all the participants but we aimed to choose the most deserving. Take photos, develop your skills and participate in Epson contest next year."
