Epson supports FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards
Leading imaging specialist, Epson today announces its continued support of the Federation of European Photographers (FEP) European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards. The awards are open to all professional photographers with European residency. The aim is to promote and raise the standards of the photographic profession whilst giving deserved recognition to leading professionals in the field. The winning images will be printed by Epson for exhibition at the Photo Museum of Antwerp and in other major cities throughout Europe.
Last year, the FEP entered into a multi year agreement with Epson which involved the creation and sponsorship of the FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards. The inaugural awards were launched in January 2008 and the first winners were announced in September 2008 on the Epson stand at Photokina in Cologne.
Claes Jeppsson, Senior Business Manager EMEA, Professional Graphics, Epson Europe, commented: “We are extremely proud to continue our support at this years’ FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards as they challenge professional photographers to demonstrate their imaging expertise. There is an outstanding level of talent in Europe and we are looking forward to creating the winning images using Epson technology.”
The competition comprises of three categories: Social, Commercial and Pictoral. Four awards will be presented: FEP Social Photographer of the Year, FEP Commercial Photographer of the Year, FEP Pictoral Photographer of the Year and the overall FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year.
Following an initial first round, which was dedicated to the Qualified European Photographers (QEP), the second round is now open and free of charge to all members of FEP member associations. For all other professional photographers who wish to enter there is a nominal fee of 30 Euros. The prestigious competition is entirely web based with signup, hosting and judging carried out online at www.europeanphotographers.eu. Winners will be awarded a crystal FEP trophy.
Last years exceptionally talented winners were Enrique Oliver from Spain for FEP Social Photographer of the Year, Jonathan Beer from the UK for FEP Commercial Photographer of the Year and Philippe Moinet from France who won both FEP Pictorial Photographer of the Year and Overall FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year.
Neil Warner, FEP President and Chairman of the FEP Awards, said: “We are grateful to Epson for its generous support and, after a successful first round the FEP now proudly opens this competition to all our European colleagues. These awards aim to recognise the exceptional level of quality and professionalism in the European photographic sector.”
The awards are open for entry up to 15, November 2009, with the winners having their images printed by Epson and exhibited at the Photo Museum of Antwerp, Belgium from 4, December 2009, to 10, January 2010. The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the Photo Museum of Antwerp on 17, December 2009. The exhibition of winning images will then be displayed at venues throughout major European cities.
Neil Warner added: “I strongly encourage all our European colleagues not to miss out on the opportunity to enter this competition which will promote the photographic profession and raise the level of our professional standards.”
