Epson’s home entertainment projector EMP-TWD1 wins Gold iF product design award 2006

Epson has won a Gold iF product design award 2006 for the EMP-TWD1, its home entertainment projector combined with DVD player and speakers from JVC, in one stylish, compact solution. This prestigious gold award is only allocated to 50 product designs each year.
The iF product design awards, established in 1954, now rank amongst the most prestigious design competitions in the world. This year it attracted products from 37 nations. The EMP-TWD1 was awarded in the Consumer Electronics category. Only 50 products are allocated a Gold award each year.
Seiko Epson Corporation said this is a totally new innovative product. The all-in-one stylish compact solution with it’s square & compact body design really fits modern living space.
The judging panels, which are made up from expert designers, architects, design specialists, magazine editors, buyers and distribution specialists judge the products against a rigorous criteria. They look at the originality, ergonomics and quality of a product. It must be superior in the industry and society and also break new grounds for the future. It must be at the forefront of creating a new lifestyle for the next generation. Products must also be innovative, functional and user-friendly.
Four other Epson products won an iF product design award 2006 - the Epson Stylus Photo RX640 all-in-on photo printer, Stylus Photo R340 A4 photo printer, Epson TM-P60 wireless thermal printer for any retail, hospitality and logistics environment, and the Epson IR-700 intelligent LCD touchscreen terminal.
